COVID-19 update: Public urged to exercise care this weekend

As a service to our readers, The Sentinel-Record publishes updates released by the city of Hot Springs and the state of Arkansas. Today's update includes information from Wednesday and Thursday, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

The following stats were posted Friday on the Arkansas Department of Health website:

• 134,904 cumulative confirmed cases, up 962 from Thursday.

• 8.1% cumulative PCR infection rate, no change from Thursday.

• 18,773 cumulative probable cases, up 90 from Thursday.

• 16.9% cumulative antigen infection rate, no change from Thursday.

• 16,908 active confirmed and probable cases, down 680 from Thursday.

• 134,312 recoveries of confirmed and probable cases, up 3,494 from Wednesday.

• 1,011 hospitalizations, up eight from Thursday.

• 192 cases on a ventilator, up 23 from Thursday.

• 2,237 confirmed deaths, no change from Thursday.

• 199 probable deaths, no change from Thursday.

• 1,029 nursing home deaths, up three from Wednesday.

• 3,473 cumulative confirmed cases in Garland County, up 105 from Wednesday.

• 52,644 PCR and antigen test reports, up 464 from Wednesday.

• 37,417 private lab reports, up 512 from Wednesday.

• 15,159 public lab reports, up 134 from Wednesday.

• 8.1% cumulative PCR infection rate.

• 378 active confirmed cases in Garland County, up eight from Wednesday.

• 2,996 recoveries of confirmed cases in Garland County, up 93 from Wednesday.

• 286 cumulative probable cases in Garland County, up 21 from Wednesday.

• 77 active probable cases in Garland County, up 13 from Wednesday.

• 98 confirmed deaths, no change from Wednesday.

• Five probable deaths, no change from Wednesday.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson released the following statement on Friday's COVID-19 numbers:

"As expected, we saw a decrease in testing yesterday, leading to a decrease in new cases compared to last week. The extent to which efforts were taken to help slow the spread this week will become evident in the weeks to come as we get back to a normal level of testing. Continue to protect yourself, your friends, and your family this weekend."
