Imagination Library of Ouachitas joins fundraiser

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of the Ouachitas has joined in an online fundraiser surrounding the online premier of "The Library That Dolly Built" documentary film.

Garland County Imagination Library, doing business as Imagination Library of the Ouachitas, an affiliate of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, has partnered with the Imagination Library, The Dollywood Foundation and Facebook to host the fundraiser for affiliates in conjunction with the online premier of the film.

The fundraiser runs through Dec. 13. All donations will be given to the local affiliate, since Facebook will not charge processing fees.

"The Imagination Library of the Ouachitas is currently sending high-quality, age-appropriate books to over 2,800 children who are registered for the program that reside in Garland County. Interested in learning more about this program or donating in order to feed the intellect and imaginations of children in Garland County? The worldwide premier of Dolly Parton's new film, "The Library That Dolly Built," will take place on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. The free documentary will be streamed exclusively on Facebook, and will be followed with a conversation with and live acoustic performance by Parton.

"Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is the world's preeminent early childhood book-gifting program, in which free books are mailed monthly to children who are registered from birth to age 5 in participating communities. The Imagination Library has grown into a global endeavor and recently hit a new milestone, gifting its 150 millionth book. The Imagination Library is currently gifting books to 1.7 million children around the world each month. The Imagination Library is available within the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and the Republic of Ireland," the release said.

"You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children," Parton said.
