The NSDAR John Percifull Chapter will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday at Comfort Suites on Nash Street.

Melissa Nesbitt will present the program "Washington, Arkansas: Honoring Our Founders and Veterans."

Nesbitt grew up in Saline County in the communities of East End and Sardis, but has made Texarkana, in Miller County, her home for over 25 years. She is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University with a B.A. in history and is currently the Archival Manager of the Southwest Arkansas Regional Archives at Washington in Hempstead County. Prior to joining the staff at SARA, she worked for the Texarkana Museums System as the curator of the Ace of Clubs House for almost 20 years. She is a member of the Texarkana Chapter DAR, the Albert Pike Chapter UDC, Arkansas Pioneers, and serves as a board member for the Arkansas Genealogical Society. She has three cats, Josephine, Angel, and Cookie. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting historic homes, nature hiking, and reading, a news release said.

There will be a flag retirement ceremony after the meeting, and a brown bag lunch following.

Visitors are welcome. Anyone with a Revolutionary War ancestor is asked to come and find out more about DAR. Call Frankie Ochsner, 501-525-1337, or Carol Ann Hunter, 501-520-5252, for more information.
