A Hot Springs woman was arrested Friday on a felony warrant stemming from allegations she broke into a local church earlier this month while nude, injuring herself in the process.
Treasure Camille Ducote Meylian, 26, who lists a Rambler Circle address, was taken into custody shortly before 10:30 a.m. Friday and charged with commercial burglary, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Meylian, who lists no prior felony history, was held on a $3,500 bond and was set to appear Monday in Garland County District Court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Nov. 18, Garland County sheriff's deputies responded to the 100 block of Highway 290 regarding a disturbance between a man and an unclothed woman.
While en route, deputies were told the pair had separated and the woman was possibly behind Lake Hamilton Baptist Church, 5963 Central Ave. Deputy Stacy Morgan made contact with a man walking in the area of Long Beach Drive and Highway 290 who stated his girlfriend, identified as Meylian, had left a residence on 290 "wearing only a jacket" and that he was trying to get her to go back inside when she walked away headed toward the church on Central.
A witness flagged down Sgt. Bill House and told him he had seen a naked woman breaking out a glass door at Lake Hamilton Baptist Church. House went there and found a back door glass shattered and the door partially open.
He and Capt. Scotty Dodd went inside to check the building and heard more glass breaking and yelling near the front of the church. They both went outside and found a woman, later identified as Meylian, standing in front of the church nude and bleeding from both hands.
LifeNet responded to the scene and Meylian was transported to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs for treatment of her injuries.
Investigators began processing the scene and collected blood samples from a blood trail leading from the rear door of the church which was the point of entry to the broken window near the front where the suspect exited the building. The samples were sent to the state crime lab for DNA testing. It was noted damage to the church was estimated at $1,000.
The next day, investigators obtained a written statement from the witness who reportedly confirmed he had seen a woman matching the description of Meylian "throwing something" through the rear glass door of the church and then entering. While deputies were inside the church checking, he said he heard glass breaking from another window on the opposite side of the church and saw the same woman climbing out the window.
The witness said Meylian tried to get into his vehicle and he began yelling for the deputies who came and took her into custody. A warrant for her arrest was issued on Nov. 19.
Meylian was previously arrested on Oct. 3, 2019, on a misdemeanor counts of third-degree domestic battery and disorderly conduct involving her father. At a hearing in district court on Nov. 21, 2019, her father failed to appear and the battery charge was withdrawn. She pleaded no contest to the disorderly conduct and was fined $240 which she later paid.
