HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- By popular demand, the Lifelong Learning Institute and the Hot Springs Village Recreation Department are bringing back CMA award winner Bill Whyte to perform a free outdoor Rock Porch Session at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at Grove Park.

Whyte, a Nashville-based singer/songwriter and comedian, has recorded two comedy song albums: "Off the Wall" and "Leave Em' Laughin."

His songwriting credits include "Safe Haven" by Hillary Scott & The Scott Family that was included on the album "Love Remains," which won the Grammy for "Best Contemporary Christian Album" in 2016. Other songs by Whyte include "Retired" by Ray Stevens, which has proved to be a particular hit with Villagers, a news release said.

He received the industry's highest honor when he was inducted in the Country Radio Broadcasters Hall of Fame, and can currently be heard on WSM Radio in Nashville, the radio home of the Grand Ole Opry.

Whyte "proved to be a Village" favorite by performing last year with Hits & Grins, a Nashville-based trio, the release said. Part of their work includes the award-wining charitable project "Operation Song," which empowers veterans, active duty military and military families to tell their stories through the process of songwriting.

According to HSV Lifelong Learning Institute Director Larry Wilson, "Bill Whyte's stories, sense of fun and passion for music make him a one-of-a-kind performer who we are so fortunate to have right here in the Village. He loves coming here."

Whyte's performance will be the next-to-last Rock Porch Session of the year.
