COVID-19 update: School districts report students, staff in quarantine

The following stats were posted Friday on the Arkansas Department of Health website:

• 72,338 cumulative confirmed cases, up 724 from Thursday.

• 632.43 rolling seven-day average of new confirmed cases, down 54.71 from Thursday.

• 866,435 PCR test reports, up 11,114 from Thursday.

• 8.3% cumulative PCR infection rate, down from 8.4% Thursday.

• 1,744 cumulative probable cases, up 147 from Thursday.

• 21% cumulative antigen infection rate, up from 20% Thursday.

• 6,158 confirmed and probable active cases, up 58 from Thursday.

• 66,747 recoveries of confirmed and probable cases, up 806 from Thursday.

• 381 hospitalizations, down two from Thursday.

• 1,025 confirmed deaths, up seven from Thursday.

• 148 probable deaths, no change from Thursday.

• 77 cases on a ventilator, up five from Thursday.

• 1,697 cumulative confirmed cases in Garland County, up 17 from Thursday.

• 15.43 rolling seven-day average of new confirmed cases, down 1.28 from Thursday.

• 27,095 PCR and antigen test reports, up 538 from Thursday.

• 23,275 private lab reports, 177 from Thursday.

• 3,820 public lab reports, up 361 from Thursday.

• 6.3% cumulative PCR infection rate, no change from Thursday.

• 130 active confirmed cases in Garland County, no change from Thursday.

• 1,524 recoveries of confirmed cases in Garland County, up 16 from Thursday.

• 43 confirmed deaths in Garland County, up one from Thursday.

• Five probable deaths in Garland County, no change from Thursday.

The educational settings report the Health Department updated Thursday listed 10 active student and staff cases in the Hot Springs School District, up from the nine listed on Monday's report. The district's website listed eight active cases Friday.

Thursday's report listed six active student and staff cases at the Lake Hamilton School District, the same count listed on Monday's report. The district's website listed nine new student cases for the week that ended Friday. Sixty-eight students and five staff were in quarantine or isolation.

The Lakeside School District didn't appear on the Health Department's list of districts with five or more active cases, but its website reported eight active student and staff cases. Sixty-two students and three staff were in quarantine.

Active cases reported in public schools increased from 574 in Monday's report to 610 Thursday. Active cases at Ouachita Baptist University increased from eight to 22. Thursday's report listed eight active cases at Henderson State University. Active cases at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville fell from 735 to 460.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson released the following statement on Friday's case numbers.

"Today we set a record for our antigen COVID-19 testing in Arkansas. We had over 11,000 tests with both PCR tests and antigen tests. Our cases were down from yesterday at 724, but we want this to go down more. Five hundred seventy-eight of the tests were community and 146 were in corrections. Have a great weekend but be safe and always remember to protect yourself and others."
