Lakeside volleyball has strong week

Lakeside did not drop a single set as it defeated Texarkana at Lakeside Athletic Complex Thursday night.

The varsity team took a 3-0 win, 25-7, 25-10, 25-14.

Katie Ballard led the Rams offense with seven kills and five digs, Maddie Trusty added six kills, eight assists, two digs and two aces and Wesley Divers had six kills, five digs and three aces.

Sarah Porter tallied six kills, four aces and a pair of solo blocks, Adachi Igbokidi had five kills with a solo block and an assisted block and Vivi Mardis had 23 assists, three aces and two digs. Macy Landry dominated the back line with 10 digs, and Kaitlyn Threadgill added eight digs.

The junior varsity team took a 2-0 win, 25-7, 25-14.

Sarah Porter led the team with seven kills, Carsen Cordell had three kills, and Gracie Ruckstuhl added two. Paige Woods had 11 assists with a kill. Threadgill led the back line with six digs and a pair of aces, Kate Foreman had three aces and a dig, Beau Kuhn had three digs and an ace and Vivien Mardis finished with two aces and a dig.

The Rams also took wins on Monday and Tuesday. The varsity team defeated Pulaski Academy, 3-1, and downed conference foe Sheridan, 3-0, on Tuesday. The JV squad took wins of 2-0 against PA and 2-1 against Sheridan.

In the two varsity matches, Trusty led the offense with 30 kills, 33 digs, four assists, two assisted blocks and an ace. Landry dominated the back row with 30 digs and two aces, Sarah Poter had nine kills, seven digs, six assisted blocks, four solo blocks, two kills and two aces, Divers finished with 12 kills, 12 digs, two aces, an assist, an assisted block and a solo block and Igbokidi tallied seven kills, nine assisted blocks and seven solo blocks.

Ballard finished with seven assisted blocks, six kills and a solo block, Threadgill had 15 digs, Olivia Porter tallied 59 assists, 12 digs, three aces, two assisted blocks and a kill, Cordell had three assisted blocks and a kill, and Mardis had five digs.

In the two JV games, Carsen Cordell finished with 10 kills, Claire Graham eight kills, Threadgill six kills, four digs and an ace and Sarah Porter five kills, two aces and a solo block. Ruckstuhl had two kills, two digs and an ace, Woods finished with two digs, a kill and an ace and Bourland had five assists and a dig. Foreman led the back row with 12 digs and nine aces, Mardis had seven aces and six digs, and Kuhn finished with a pair of digs.

Junior Rams top

Texarkana, ED

TEXARKANA -- Both the eighth-grade and freshman Rams volleyball teams took 2-0 wins on the road at Texarkana.

The eighth-grade team (5-1, 4-0) won 25-6, 25-28. The team was led by Alexis Kessler with eight service points and two aces and Maddie Kinder with six service points and two aces.

The freshman team (7-1, 4-0) won 25-9, 25-23. Madi Belle Landry, Lyndsay Mehlin and Sabrina Bledsoe led the team with three kills each, Landry adding eight service points with two aces and three digs. Lauren Latham finished with nine service points, including four aces, a solo block and 12 assists, and Wini Formby and Aubrey Judd had two kills each.

Lexi Hardage led the back row with eight digs, Aubrey Divers with six, Olivia Godwin five and Formby, Lucy LaDuke and Amelia Sweetin three each.

Both teams will host Magnolia Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

*On Tuesday, the eighth-grade team won 25-9, 25-17 against El Dorado with Brenna Townley putting up 15 service points, including six aces.

The freshman squad won 25-8, 25-9. Landry had six kills and two digs, and Latham had 19 service points, including nine aces, 14 assists, three kills and two digs. Judd, Foreman, Bledsoe and Bri Mattingly had two kills each with a solo block by Judd. Hardage and Godwin led the back line with four digs each, and Divers had three.

Lakeside sweeps Hot Springs

Lakeside did not lose a single match as it swept Hot Springs Thursday afternoon.

Brooks Bell defeated Eben Sanders, 8-0, and Sam Stevens-Assheur also took an 8-0 win over Duke Wittenbert.

In girls action, Addison Dowdy took an 8-8 (8-7) win over Ella Pace, and Sarah Nutt defeated Hannah Newcomb 8-4.

In girls doubles, Lily McDonought and Ava Monte defeated Eben Sanders and Nina Gunnel, 8-1. Madelyn Brown and Lydia Bearrs defeated Sanders and Gunnel, 6-3.
