"Money can't buy happiness, but it can make you awfully comfortable while you're being miserable."

-- Clare Boothe Luce, 1938.

That's an old flippant quote, but it seems each year places more and more emphasis on making money. So, what does that have to do with investing?

"Making money and having a financial nest egg are two entirely different things. We focus on working with clients who have accumulated a healthy nest egg and desire to make the most of those assets in the years before and throughout retirement," according to a news release from Raymond James.

"We have worked with clients for over 20 years making their comfortable retirement an achievable goal," it said. The following is Raymond James' approach to this important long-term process:

• Our first appointment is to get to know each other to ensure we are all on the same page. We focus on developing long-term, multigenerational relationships and want to make sure you are comfortable with our planning and investment process. This is key to success.

• The next step is to determine your assets and liabilities and your future needs for a comfortable retirement. This is also when we want to discuss the important matters of health, family dynamics and other personal considerations.

• Next, we will use our team's 99 years of combined experience and Raymond James' resources to develop your plan and specific recommendations for your consideration. At this appointment, we want you to understand and be comfortable with our suggestions. This is also when we will discuss the fees involved in your investment plan; note there is no expense to you until you become a client.

• After implementation, we are on-call to answer questions or concerns about your investments or any financial related issues you encounter; that's all included in your fee.

• Finally, we insist you join us (in person, Zoom or phone) for a complete review at least annually. We will share a "deep dive" report to review performance, the strategy and consider any changes.
