People who received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine through Smith Drug and Compounding Inc. at the Garland County Fairgrounds, or the Moderna vaccine at Oaklawn United Methodist Church, in March are due back at their respective locations today for their second dose.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Smith Drug will be administering second doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at the fairgrounds, with "plenty" of doses to administer to first-time vaccine recipients, too. No appointment is necessary.

The Oaklawn Center on Aging will be administering second doses of the Moderna vaccine at FUMC, 216 Higdon Ferry Road, at various times today. For morning appointments, come at the same time as the first appointment. For afternoon appointments, arrive no later than 1 p.m.

At both locations, participants need to bring their white card and their completed consent form.

Currently, every Arkansan older than 16 is eligible to receive the vaccine at no cost, with no insurance required.

"We have extras, and if we start running low I'll send somebody with more," pharmacist and Smith Drug owner Lance Smith said. "We have plenty to take care of anybody who wants to come" to the fairgrounds.

For Pfizer recipients who received their first dose on March 16, but are unable to attend today's clinic, call Smith Drug at 501-624-2900. They are scheduling and administering vaccines daily.

For recipients who attend today's clinic at the fairgrounds for their first dose, there will not be a follow-up clinic at the fairgrounds for the second dose. They will need to go to the pharmacy located at 1 Mercy Lane for the second dose.

While today's clinic at the fairgrounds is only offering the Pfizer vaccine, Smith said on the pharmacy's website people can schedule an appointment at the pharmacy, choosing whether they get the Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine.
