Man talked down off wall after 3-hour intervention

by From Staff Reports | April 8, 2021 at 4:05 a.m.

Hot Springs police were able to convince an apparently distraught man to climb down off a wall at Regions Bank where he had been sitting, reportedly threatening to jump, for about three hours Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the bank, 835 Central Ave., and found the man on a wall at the back of the bank, near the ground level facing the alley between the bank and the building at 831 Central.

Officers set up a perimeter immediately around the area where the man was located and one of the department's negotiators began talking with the man.

"After three hours' worth of negotiation, he came down on his own and was transported to a local hospital for treatment," Cpl. Patrick Langley, the department's public information officer, said.
