The Hot Springs Flute Ensemble and Music Club will hold a live concert presentation on Saturday, April 24, at 3 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 3819 Central Ave.
The concert will be conducted by Carlos Feller and is a fundraiser for the Music Club Scholarship Fund. This is the first live concert either group has been able to present since COVID-19 guidelines were put into place, "which are now somewhat eased," a news release said.
The concert theme is "Let's Dance." Songs included are "The Entertainer" and "Bethena," a concert Waltz by Scott Joplin; "Chicken Chowder Rag," a two-step by Irene Giblin; "X-N-Tric Rag" by Louise V. Gustin; "Tioga Waltz" by Stephen Foster; and the "Tritsch-Tratsch" Polka by Johann Strauss. Also on the program are the "Blues Sophistacato" by Bill Holcombe and "Safari" by Harold L. Walters.
Flutists performing are Lynn Clardy, piccolo and C flute; C flutists Donna Toler, Regenia Bettis, Debbie Reed, Robin Williams and Deonne Carson; alto flutists Sara Ferril, Ann Smedley and Shelley Martin; bass flutists Jackie Flowers and Beverly Hegwood; and contra bass flutist Lydia Keller. The piano accompanist is Karen Granderson.
The concert is free and open to the public. Masks are recommended. Seating is social distanced and limited.
