Coast Guard Auxiliary sets garage sale fundraiser

Flotilla 085-15-07 U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, a nonprofit, all-volunteer service organization, will sponsor a marine/yard sale fundraiser of used goods and related items at 9 a.m. Saturday at the USCG Auxiliary Station, 4928 Albert Pike Road.

There will be marine items, boating equipment, fishing gear, and household goods.

"The proceeds go to promote our boat safety programs on Lake Hamilton, and surrounding lakes/waterways. We teach the Arkansas Game and Fish safe boating course at junior high school and National Park College, do boat patrols, free vessel safety inspections, and provide safe boating literature to the local marinas," Flotilla Staff Officer Deborah Blackburn said in a news release.

Utility construction

closes parts of Malvern

The eastbound lane of Malvern Avenue, between Church Street and Grand Avenue, will be closed from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through May 14 for utility construction.

Detour signs will be in place, and motorists are asked to use caution when traveling in the area.

Magnet Cove School

board to meet Monday

MAGNET COVE -- The regularly scheduled meeting of the Magnet Cove School Board will be held at 6 p.m. Monday in the Magnet Cove High School Library, Cindy Talley, the school district's secretary/assistant bookkeeper, said in a news release.
