The Fun City Chorus of Hot Springs has awarded MacKenzy Sanabria the $500 Bill James Honorary Scholarship.

Sanabria, 18, is an honor graduate from Glen Rose High School and a first-generation college student. She is pursuing a path to become a nurse practitioner. Sanabria will begin school this fall at ASU Three Rivers, and after getting her RN degree plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas to complete her PRN.

Sanabria is an avid music lover and enjoys all types and styles of music. She began learning to play guitar at a very young age and her love for music and instruments grew from there.

"MacKenzy knows how music can change lives. Something she has witnessed firsthand while singing to the elderly at a retirement home," a news release said.

"I am so grateful for every opportunity that I have been given and I have lived a truly blessed life. I am so excited to see what God has in store for me and am thankful for a great family and friends who support me in everything that I do," she said in the release.

Since 2012, the Fun City Chorus has awarded over $16,000 to college freshman and sophomore recipients. High school seniors entering college can get more information by emailing [email protected] or by calling Will Williams at 916-812-1697.
