Representation disappoints

Dear editor:

As a resident of District 4, I would like to say I am very disappointed in the representation, upkeep, and maintenance of my district. Numerous attempts to contact my representative via email and phone have proven fruitless; he never bothers to respond.

During the last election for board of directors, one of the "priorities" they and Mayor Pat McCabe listed was the paving of the city streets. I've seen little to none done, with the exception of West Hobson and Cooper, which are not in my district. Third Street, Oakwood, and West Hobson from the intersection of Third to Central are in awful shape, as is Central Avenue from the Trivista entrance past the racetrack. I'm not sure how Carrol Weatherford "prioritizes" the needs of his constituents, but I just spent $270 replacing shocks and struts on a vehicle less than five years old. All the while, a sidewalk to nowhere is built -- complete with fancy landscaping stones -- on Main Street. For what purpose? All while many of the streets are barely drivable, poorly marked, and dozens of street lights aren't working.

I had hoped the board members and Pat McCabe had listened to the taxpayers in the last election, but either through incompetence or just indifference, I don't see that they've done much. I'll be looking for new leadership in District 4 in the next election.

Duck tale

Dear editor:

After reading Mr. Foshee's duck tale from July 22 I was left to wonder. Is he a descendant or just a disciple or Sen. Joe McCarthy? Regardless I would certainly not want to go duck hunting with him.
