ARKADELPHIA -- City officials will unveil plans for a new $2.5 million community park honoring Martin Luther King Jr. at 15th and Pine streets in Arkadelphia at 11:30 a.m. Friday, a news release said.

City Manager Gary Brinkley said in the release that the site, previously Clark County Hospital, serves as a "natural gathering space" for the city and is "ideally situated" along Pine Street, one of the city's primary thoroughfares.

"Key leadership for the project will be announced as well as our plans to fund this project with gifts from across the state," Brinkley said.

The announcement will take place on the future site of the MLK Jr. Park.

"The public is invited to attend this historic announcement," the release said.
