Centerpoint downs Lake Hamilton at Glenwood Country Club

Centerpoint beat out Lake Hamilton in both girls and boys golf action Tuesday at Glenwood Country Club, a week after the teams opened their seasons against each other on the course.

Lake Hamilton's Ginny Higginbotham shot a low score of 47 in the nine-hole rematch to earn medalist honors, but the Lady Knights combined for a 164, edging out the Lady Wolves' 168.

Centerpoint's Marlee Bright shot a 49 to lead the team with Bethany Massey (55) and Makenzie Massey (60) combining for the team score. Hope Hargrove shot a 63, and Natalie Trijillo had a 68 for the junior varsity girls.

Jordyn Garner (59), Reagan Carrouth (62) and Kenley Kincannon (64) added to Lake Hamilton's score.

"Girls match was very tight again with the Centerpoint girls edging us out," said Lake Hamilton coach Brandi Higginbotham. "Reagan Carrouth and Kenley Kincannon shot their best scores so far."

Jace Clark turned in a 40 for medalist honors with teammates Kaden Owens (42) and Dillon Fox (41) combining for the Knights' winning card of 123.

Lake Hamilton was led by Cade Robinson's low round of 41 with Zac Pennington adding a 44. Jack Higginbothan (54), Ben Varner (57) and Brode Horton (49) also scored for the Wolves. Jake Spruill shot a 58 for the Wolves' JV squad.

"Scores were improved in the rematch this week on the boys side," Higginbotham said. "Cade Robinson and Zac Pennington played well and Brode Horton got in on the scoring for the first time."

WOLVES FACE OFF AGAINST TROJANS

Peyton Garner shot a 42 at Diamondhead Country Club on a hot Wednesday to earn medalist honors in a match against Hot Springs.

Pennington (45), Robinson (46), Varner (51) and Jack Higginbotham (52) combined for a team score of 184. Horton shot a 52, and Spruill had a 57 for the JV squad.

Cade Miller led the Trojans with 44, and Jacob Wisener shot a 59.

Ginny Higginbotham shot a 51 to earn medalist honors, and Carrouth (59), Garner (61) and Kincannon (61) added to the team score of 171.

Lake Hamilton hosts El Dorado, Lakeside and Nashville Thursday at 1 p.m. at Glenwood Country Club. Hot Springs hosts Sheridan and Cutter Morning Star Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

LADY LIONS TAKE WIN, LIONS SECOND

Bismarck's boys narrowly missed out on their fourth straight win to start the season as the Lady Lions picked up their second win of the season at Highland Golf Course in East Camden.

The Lady Lions shot a 125, led by medalist Anna Cain's low round of 41. Camden Harmony Grove turned in a team card of 163 while Cossatot River finished third with a 181.

Teammates Erin Fendley and Hannah Collie earned runner-up medalist honors with rounds of 42, and Ellie Norris shot a 45. The Lady Lions' junior varsity team was led by Jenna Payne (47), Samantha Collie (55) and Ella Campbell (64).

The Hornets came in on their home course with a team card of 124, leaving the Lions in second with 125 and Cossatot River in third with 136.

Blake Smith shot a 38 to share medalist honors, while Wyatt Clement (42), Braden Efird (45) and Gavin Urban (52) added to the varsity team's scoring. Riley Tuttle (39), Nick Tucker (43), Kalem Rorie (49), Noah Smith (51), Gabe Urban (52), Collin Parrie (58), James Smith (62), Nathan Gray (64) and Jacob Bingham (66) all turned in cards for the JV squad.

COBRAS, LADY LIONS WIN AT DESOTO

Fountain Lake's boys picked up a win at DeSoto Golf Course Thursday while Jessieville took the win in the girls match.

The Cobras shot a 129 for the win with Dardanelle turning in a 164 for second and Jessieville third with a 191. Haskell Harmony Grove's Carson Withers shot a 40 for medalist honors.

Brodie McMillan, Colt Carden and Carson McCoy each shot a 43 for the Cobras. Leonard Huff shot a 58 to lead the Lions.

The Lady Lions shot a 185 for the win with Fountain Lake shooting a 192 for second and Dardanelle 199 for third.

Jessieville's Haley Holland shot a 58 for medalist honors. Kamma Reid (63) and Ava Zetts (64) rounded out the team score.

Sophie Skinner shot a 61 to lead the Lady Cobras with Katie Kandlbinder (65) and Anna Claire (66) rounding out the scoring.

Fountain Lake will host Nashville and Mena Monday at Magellan Golf Course in Hot Springs Village at 3 p.m.

REDDIES TO SCRIMMAGE TONIGHT

Henderson State's football team will host an open scrimmage tonight at 7 p.m. as part of the university's Welcome Week activities.

The free scrimmage will be held at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium at Ruggles Field and will feature the school's cheer and pom squads and the Showband of Arkansas.

The Reddies open their season at 6 p.m. on Sept. 2 against Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford, Okla. The team will face Northwestern Oklahoma State at 6 p.m. on Sept. 11 for its home opener.
