Artists' Workshop Gallery, 610-A Central Ave., has announced that Hugh Dunnahoe and Irma McLeod are the featured artists for March.

"March brings the promise of spring," and the gallery is "excited that Hugh Dunnahoe and Irma McLeod, two artists whose works are in perfect harmony with the upcoming season, will be March's featured artists," a news release said.

Dunnahoe began painting during his professional career in illustration and graphic design. "While art created for commercial purposes is designed to speak to a larger audience, the messages of a landscape or portrait, or an arrangement of camellias, are more intimate and subjective. It is these personal connections that may be found in Dunnahoe's paintings. An accomplished Plein-air artist, some of the works he will be presenting in March were created outdoors, depicting vivid impressions of urban and rural scenes. Comfortable working in all mediums, his painting preference is oil," the release said.

Dunnahoe currently works and offers instruction at his Arkansas studio near Hot Springs National Park. He has taught Graphic Design and Illustration at the university level and was 2009 Artist-in-Residence at Hot Springs National Park.

McLeod was born in Monterey, Mexico. She and her husband moved to Hot Springs Village in 2019 and she joined Artists' Workshop Gallery shortly thereafter. She is currently serving as co-curator in the gallery.

"McLeod was encouraged in her creative development from a young age by her older brothers. After her retirement from a professional business career, she began painting in earnest. Her natural talent has been enhanced by hours spent researching and learning her craft. Her works are often whimsical, and rendered in brilliant acrylic colors. As a March featured artist, McLeod will be presenting many new works, including her popular animal paintings," the release said.
