Teamwork leads junior Wolves to rout of Cabot North

PEARCY -- Lake Hamilton's freshman team worked together Thursday night for a 59-20 rout of Cabot North at Wolf Arena.

"They really play well together," said junior Wolves head coach Bobby Tedder. "One thing about it, our defense fuels our offense. And it's just a great group of guys; They don't care who scores the most points or anything; they just want to win."

The junior Wolves jumped out to a 24-6 lead in the first quarter with back-to-back buckets from Cooper Kindt to start the match. Easton Hurley and LaBraun Christon helped push out the lead as they each sank a 3-pointer in the quarter.

Ty Robinson drained a pull-up jumper to start the second quarter, but the junior Wolves allowed the junior Panthers to find their way to the bucket as Lake Hamilton outscored the visitors 10-7 in the second for a 34-14 lead at the break.

Kindt got the Wolves on the board first in the second half off the first possession, grabbing an offensive rebound for a putback. Robinson kept the momentum going with a left-handed layup to avoid the junior Panther defender on the way in to give Lake Hamilton a 38-14 lead early in the third.

Robinson grabbed a rebound, passing upcourt to Jalen Carter for the easy bucket. Carter returned the favor next by picking up the steal, hitting Robinson for a 3-point play as the junior Wolves pressed out to a 43-14 lead with 3:20 remaining. Hurley connected with Robinson shortly after for a bucket before Robinson found Christon in transition to close the third up 50-17.

The bench came in during the final stanza with Brady Burris hitting a jumper early, Aiden Hughes putting up 5 in the period.

"Overall, I was very pleased with the way we played," Tedder said. "Starting out, we gave up a couple of good looks for them, but in the end we settled down, set down and guarded. ... We got the balls real quick and turned those into easy transition buckets. Then we executed really in the half-court set and got some really good looks there too."

Robinson, Kindt and Carter each had 10 points to lead the junior Wolves. Robinson added eight rebounds, four steals and two assists, Carter had three rebounds, two steals and one assist and Kindt finished with two rebounds with an assist and a block. Christon tallied 9 points and a steal, Hurley had 8 points, two assists and two steals, Brady Burris had 4 points with a rebound, Cameron Hale had 2 points and two rebounds and Lucas McCain had 1 point, two rebounds and a block.

Cabot was led by Hall's 6 points, three rebounds and a steal. Powell had 5 points and a pair of rebounds, Langford had 4 points and six rebounds, Jack Veazey had 3 points and Ryan Decker had 2 points.

The junior Wolves will play Thursday at Bryant while the junior Panthers are scheduled to host Conway Tuesday.
