Wallace Anthony Marroy Jr., 81, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away Jan. 20, 2021.

He was born Sept. 15, 1939, in New Orleans, La., to Wallace Anthony Marroy Sr. and Essie Pearl (Peel) Marroy.

Wally graduated from LSU and spent his career as a chemical engineer for Dow Chemical Company and Nalco Chemical Company. He was a member of Ouachita Mountain Hikers. He enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail, Ozark Mountains, Grand Canyon and West Mountain. He loved kayaking, fishing, cooking and playing poker. Wally volunteered at Jackson House. He made many trips to Colladaire, Haiti, to oversee the building of a dormitory for the teachers, drill for water, and work with the nurses and physicians so they could set up the children for physicals and surgery. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Lucy Marroy; sons, Wallace Anthony Marroy III (Stephanie), Andy Marroy (Teri), Kris Lee Duke (Rebecca); daughter, Kara Lyn Absher; sister, Brenda Marroy Davidson (Paul); grandchildren, Justin Harvey Marroy (Emily), Harlee Marroy, Healy Marroy, Collin Marroy, Timothy Duke, Matthew Duke, Michael Duke, Thomas Absher, Lauren Absher, and Michael Absher; and great-grandchild, Easton Major Marroy.

Rosary will be 1 p.m. Friday with a Mass of Christian burial following at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father George Sanders, Father Eliseo Noel, Father Alan Rosenau, Father T.J. Hart and Father Bill Elser officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Haiti Fund in care of St. Mary's.
