A local teen was arrested Wednesday night in Little Rock in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred Sunday night in the parking lot of a Hot Springs church where two people were injured.

Cory Terrance Gibson, 19, who lists a North Mission Street address, was taken into custody by Hot Springs police around 8 p.m. at the Pulaski County Detention Center where he was being held on unrelated charges and served with felony warrants for three counts of committing a terroristic act, each punishable by up to life in prison, and two counts of first-degree battery, each punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Gibson, who lists no prior felony history, remained in custody Thursday on zero bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly after 8:30 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to 211 Butterfield St. regarding a drive-by shooting that had just occurred. Officers found a male and female suffering from gunshot wounds, who were transported to local hospitals, and a second female who was not injured.

Detective Phillip De Foor responded first to National Park Medical Center and spoke with the male victim, who had gunshot wounds to his right hand and left foot. He then responded to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs where he spoke with the female victim, who had a gunshot wound to her right thigh and two puncture wounds to her left thigh apparently caused by bullet fragments.

Both victims stated they were at their vehicle, a Chevrolet Equinox, in the parking lot of the Ark of Praise church, located at 308 Butterfield, when a dark blue or black Chevrolet Impala drove by.

A rear-seat passenger, later allegedly identified as Gibson, rolled down the rear driver's side window and began to fire at the group, the affidavit said.

On Monday, De Foor executed a search warrant on the Equinox and found that in the driver's seat, where the male victim had been sitting, and on the passenger side front seat, there was blood on the fabric of the seats. He also found multiple bullet holes on the driver's side of the car.

On Tuesday, the second female who was with the gunshot victims at the time of the shooting came to the police department to provide a statement. She reportedly said when the Impala was approaching she "looked to see who it was" and recognized Gibson in the back seat when he rolled down the window.

She said she saw him produce a firearm and then he began shooting at them. She stated she has known Gibson for several years and used to go to high school with him. Warrants for Gibson's arrest were issued on Wednesday.

Gibson was reportedly arrested in Little Rock around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and charged with misdemeanor counts of third-degree domestic battery and fleeing on foot. He is set to stand trial on those charges Aug. 2 in Little Rock District Court.
