Wolves compete in track championships

MADISON, Ala. -- Three Lake Hamilton long distance runners capped off their spring track season last weekend in Madison, Alabama, competing in the Running Lane Track Championships at James Clemens High School Track Facility.

Juniors Zeke McCain and Evan Armitage along with sophomore Olivia Pielemeier went up against other distance prep runners throughout the country.

On Friday night, McCain ran a 9:49.93 in the 3,200-meter run while Armitage garnered a time of 9:55.14. Wolves assistant track coach Brandon Smith said it was a very competitive field in their heat of the event. McCain was back on the track Saturday night, clocking a 4:28.48 in the 1,600-meter run.

Pielemeier improved upon her school record time in the 1,600-meter run, which she set at the Lake Hamilton Invitational earlier this spring. The sophomore finished in 5:05.86, nearly two seconds faster than her previous record of 5:07.64.

Smith said he looks forward to having all three athletes back this fall to lead the cross teams to success.

Diamante sees growth, will phase in 1-time initiation fee

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- After being purchased by club members in Dec. 2017, Diamante Country Club continues to see growth and improvement in all areas.

According to a recent news release, these improvements have "positioned Diamante for its substantial increase in property sales and memberships, especially Emerald Golf Memberships." Emerald Memberships allow residents of Hot Springs Village who are "non-Diamante property owners" to become members of the club, which has added over 100 new memberships in 2021 so far.

Due to the growth, the club is making membership changes such as phasing in a one-time initiation fee for Emerald Memberships starting on July 1. While there is currently no initiation fee for the category, the release stated that is still not too late to join before the fee kicks in.

"Diamante Members are welcomed by name and become family," the release said. "Not only do they enjoy one another's company in recreational activities, but they also support one another through life's joys and trials. Our members use their club as a haven of refuge and a home away from home. This security has never been appreciated more than it has over the past year with the pandemic. Country clubs and golf communities have seen an increase in demand across the country. Diamante County Club is uniquely positioned as a private club inside a gated golf community that has seen a tremendous influx of people the past year."

To join or find out more information, contact Diamante membership director Terri Socha at 501-922-1114 or at [email protected]. Diamante Country Club is located at 2000 Country Club Drive.
