Memphis funk band Funkytown will provide the beat on Thursday for the last of four free public concerts in the 2021 Bridge Street LIVE! series in Hot Springs' newly enlarged Bridge Street Entertainment District.

Hot Springs blues singer/guitarist John Calvin Brewer will open for Funkytown from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., the concert's sponsor, Visit Hot Springs, said in a news release.

The concert and surrounding activities will start at 5 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. People of all ages are welcome to come enjoy the free music and entertainment, but alcoholic beverages will be limited to people 21 or older. Dogs must be on a leash. There will be food vendors in the district.

Attendees are welcome to bring their folding chairs and enjoy the free music and fun.

Funkytown is a seven-piece band that includes a high-stepping male, and two fierce female lead vocalists, who together provide a mix of funk, R&B and Top 40 hits, according to a biography provided by Visit Hot Springs.

The band includes three lead vocalists, two female and one male, drums, bass, guitar and keyboards. All members sing backup and harmony.

Thursday's event will be the last of four Bridge Street LIVE! free concerts and entertainment events sponsored by Visit Hot Springs each Thursday in June to inaugurate the newly expanded entertainment district. The Hot Springs Board of Directors voted to expand the entertainment district in 2019 but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented events from being held there in 2020.

The newly established Entertainment District guidelines allow patrons over 21 to freely walk the district with beer, wine or spirits as long as those beverages are in a special Bridge Street LIVE! Entertainment District cup. The Bridge Street LIVE! events will be confined to an area immediately surrounding Bridge Street that does not include the west side of Central Avenue.
