The Health Department said a “data cleanup” Sunday increased cumulative polymerase chain reaction-confirmed and probable case counts by more than 2,900 cases diagnosed prior to Feb. 14.

The correction reduced confirmed deaths by 106 and probable deaths by 68.

“Some deaths have been reclassified and duplicates were removed,” the Health Department said.

The cleanup didn’t seem to affect Garland County’s cumulative PCR-confirmed case count. Nine new confirmed cases were added Sunday. Cumulative probable cases increased by 61.

The correction added more than 7,500 PCR and antigen test reports to the county’s testing total, lowering its cumulative PCR-confirmed infection rate by more than 8%. Monday’s 9% cumulative rate was the lowest since mid-January.

The state added 263 and 98 new PCR-confirmed cases Sunday and Monday, bringing its PCR-confirmed infection curve to a rolling seven-day average of 362.86. Cases reported Sunday didn’t include the more than 2,000 confirmed cases from specimens tested prior to Feb. 14.

“There are fewer cases with higher testing today compared to last week,” Gov Asa Hutchinson said Monday in a news release. “We’re continuing to vaccinate Arkansans, and we will be able to increase our doses administered once we receive our first shipment of the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine, which is expected later this week.”
