Man reportedly turns himself in after allegedly assaulting wife

A reportedly intoxicated man turned himself in at the Garland County Sheriff's Office early Tuesday after allegedly assaulting his wife in front of their teenage daughter a few hours earlier.

John Lacy Swayze, 51, who lists a Veranda Trail address, was taken into custody around 1:45 a.m. and charged with third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

Swayze, who lists no prior criminal history, was being held on zero bond and was set to appear Wednesday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly before 10:30 p.m. Monday, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence on Veranda Trail regarding a call about a physical disturbance in progress.

Deputies spoke to the female caller, 17, and her mother, 46, who said her husband, identified as Swayze, had left the scene and that he was intoxicated.

She said she and Swayze had been arguing when he came into the bedroom where she was located, grabbed her by the face and pressed her head down into the pillow. Then she says he grabbed her chest and squeezed her breast repeatedly until it "became very painful."

Deputies noted the victim had bruising to her right breast, but didn't observe any injuries to her face.

Around 1:19 a.m. Tuesday, dispatch advised deputies Swayze was outside the sheriff's office "waiting to speak to a deputy." When deputies arrived, they noted Swayze appeared to be intoxicated and reportedly admitted he had been drinking.
