James Claude Hudson, age 88, of Hot Springs, Ark., received his gift of eternal life on Monday, March 22, 2021.

James "Jimmy" Hudson was born April 18, 1932, in Hot Springs, Ark., to the union of Claude Hudson and Gladys Massey. Deacon James Hudson attended Langston High School. Upon completion of high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He retired from the VA Medical Center of San Francisco, Calif.

He was a faithful member of Roanoke Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, trustee, member of the Male Chorus, and Bereavement Ministry. His hobbies included watching westerns, gardening and carpentry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Willie "Faye" Hudson; his sister, Bonnie Paschal; and son, Eric Hudson.

His passing has left a lasting impression in the heart of his children, Marie Hudson, Pamela Brown, James Hudson Jr., all of San Francisco, Calif., Gelatha Fletcher of Spurger, Texas, and Veletha Fletcher of Haywood, Calif.; his brother, Rev. Leon (Deloris) Massey of Hot Springs, Ark.; his sisters, Marilyn Massey-Shandy of St. Louis, Mo., Tiny (L.C.) Ford of Lakeview Terrace, Calif., Helen (Elijah) Harris of Hot Springs, Ark.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, his god granddaughter, LaNiece King Grant; special friends, Robert Perkins Jr. and Brenda Caver; a host of extended family and friends.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today, Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Roanoke Baptist Church. The interment will be Monday, March 29, 2021, at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock, Ark.
