CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs recently welcomed Scott Jones as the new director of the Inpatient Senior Behavioral Health Unit.
"The unit opened in mid-2020 to provide necessary compassionate care for the Southwest Arkansas community's aging population. Jones brings extensive experience to the program in the field of inpatient psychiatry as a therapist, clinical coordinator and program director in Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas," a news release said.
"Mental illness can impact as many as 10-20% of individuals over the age of 55 and there are times when they need more support than their families and loved ones can provide on their own. That's why we're making our team of health care professionals available to provide cohesive, high-quality treatment for each patient," CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs President Dr. Douglas Ross said in the release.
"Scott has a demonstrated passion for working with the geriatric population. His knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for ministry will help us continue to provide compassionate care to our central Arkansas community."
Jones most recently served as program manager at Signet Health in Hot Springs. He previously spent five years as Department Director of Geriatric Psychiatry at Community Health Systems in Franklin, Tenn. Jones is a licensed professional counselor in Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas. He holds a Master of Science Degree in rehabilitation counseling from Mississippi State University and is currently pursuing his MBA through the University of North Alabama.
"Trained, dedicated staff at the CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs Inpatient Senior Behavioral Health Unit include psychiatrists, primary care physicians, occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists and other health care professionals. They are now available to provide support to patients experiencing: depression, anxiety, hallucinations, anger, isolation, memory loss, suicidal thoughts and unresolved grief," the release said.
