A local teen has been charged with a felony for threatening to stab to death one of his teachers at Hot Springs World Class High School in an Instagram post Wednesday morning.
Kaden Drake Yardbrough Chandler, 18, who lists a Vineyard Street address, was taken into custody shortly before noon at the school, 701 Emory St., and charged with a felony count of first-degree terroristic threatening, punishable by up to six years in prison.
Chandler, who lists no prior criminal history, was later released on $2,500 bond and is set to appear June 3 in Garland County District Court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, around 10 a.m. Wednesday, Hot Springs police Officer Jonathon Langford, who was working as a school resource officer at HSWCHS, stated Principal William Brazle was approached by a teacher regarding an Instagram post reportedly made by a student, identified as Chandler, which referenced threats made to another teacher.
A photo of the post was taken and it reportedly read, "I'm just sayin if (teacher's name) fails me and puts me back in summer school AGAIN, I'm going to brutally stab her to death and then slit my wrists again. I (expletive) hate that dumb (expletive) so (expletive) much."
The affidavit notes the post was made on Chandler's Instagram story "where it was viewable to the public."
