Grand Master Glenn R. Keeney, Hanshi, 10th Dan Goju-Ryu of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away Nov. 18, 2021.
He was born May 6, 1942, in Anderson, Ind., to Walter Russell and Lucy (Puckett) Keeney.
Beginning in 1957, and over the following 64 years, some of Mr. Keeney's accolades included: founder and president, Professional Karate Commission, world renowned martial arts competitor, full contact kickboxing referee, kickboxing trainer/manager, tournament promoter, entrepreneur, martial arts instructor, business owner of Komakai Academy of Karate, presented the Key to the City of Anderson, designated by the Indiana state governor as "Sagamore of the Wabash," designated as one of Madison County's 100 greatest athletes. He leaves behind a legacy of loyal Black Belts.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Marsha Keeney; daughters, Beth Ann Rush, Glenna Bagienski (Sam), Sholin Keeney; brother, Edbert Keeney; sisters, Anna Pinter, Margie Dolenski; grandchildren, Brandon, Michelle, Stephen, Brooke, Elle, Drake, Jaylee; and great-grandchildren, Jordan, Leah, Lucas and Kynzlee.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.
