DIVISION II PLAYERS NOMINATED FOR HARLON HILL TROPHY

LITTLE ROCK -- A total of 13 athletes from Super Region 3, the region containing the Great American Conference, have been nominated for the 2021 Harlon Hill Trophy as the Division II College Football Player of the Year.

Thirty-six athletes from across the nation have been nominated for the award, and sports information directors at the 165 NCAA Division II football-playing schools nominated candidates and will also vote on the award.

First, the 36 initial candidates will be placed on regional ballots, and the top two players from each for the four Super Regions will advance to the national ballot. The winner of the award will be announced Dec. 17 and will be honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club awards banquet on Jan. 13, 2022.

Harding's Cole Chancy is one of the nominees this year, and he returns to the ballot after advancing to the finalist stage in 2019. Other GAC players include Ouachita Baptist's TJ Cole, Henderson State's L'liott Curry and Oklahoma Baptist's Preston Haire.

The Harlon Hill trophy is named for the former University of North Alabama standout. He played for the Lions from 1950 to 1953 before playing in the NFL with the Chicago Bears.
