Local man dies after being struck by minivan

A Hot Springs man was killed early Monday when he was reportedly struck by a minivan while walking on Higdon Ferry Road, according to an Arkansas Department of Public Safety report released Monday evening.

Brandon Davitt, 30, of Hot Springs, was reportedly in the roadway shortly before 6 a.m. when he was struck by a 2017 Dodge Caravan that was southbound in the right-hand lane of Higdon Ferry just before Temperance Hill Road.

Davitt was pronounced dead at the scene by Garland County Coroner Stuart Smedley. The name of the driver of the Caravan, who was reportedly not injured, was not included in the report.

Road conditions were foggy and dry at the time of the incident, the report states.
