No. 8/9 Tigers host winless Boll Weevils

ARKADELPHIA -- On a 29-game Great American Conference win streak, Ouachita Baptist hosts Arkansas Tech tonight at Cliff Harris Stadium in a matchup the Tigers dominated when they last met in 2019.

OBU (2-0) broke into the top 10 of the AFCA coaches rankings at No. 9, while earning a No. 8 spot in the D2Football.com poll.

On the other side, the Wonder Boys (0-2) are off to a tougher start after falling by just 3 points at East Central last weekend.

The Tigers dominated Southern Nazarene last week, only allowing a field goal and a miniscule 35 total yards of offense. OBU's offense is led by a strong rushing attack as the Tigers average 301 rushing yards per game. Out of the 11 touchdowns the Tigers have scored, eight have been on the ground.

Freshman Kendel Givens has registered six touchdowns on the season, while senior TJ Coel leads the team in attempts and yards. That powerful rushing game has lead to the Tigers becoming the No. 1 team in the GAC in terms of time of possession (36:22).

OBU's running backs will look to dominate against an Arkansas Tech defense that has allowed 249.5 rushing yards per game this season.

On the offensive side of the ball for the Wonder Boys, Arkansas Razorback transfer quarterback Jack Lindsey has registered 206 passing yards for two touchdowns and three interceptions on the season.

Kickoff from Cliff Harris Stadium is set for 6 p.m.

HENDERSON STATE LOOKS TO STAY PERFECT AT UAM

MONTICELLO -- Coming off a dominant 55-7 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State, Henderson State is on the road to face Arkansas-Monticello at Willis Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium tonight.

After the big performance against NWOSU, the Reddies (2-0) entered the Division II AFCA rankings at No. 25.

Henderson State boasts one of the best offenses in the GAC this season as the Reddies are first in total offense with 503 yards per game and scoring offense at 43 points per game.

The Reddies run a balanced offense averaging 242 yards passing and 261 yards rushing per game.

UAM (1-1) has weapons of its own highlighted by quarterback Demilon Brown. Brown leads all of Division II in total offense with 384.5 yards per game and he comes in at No. 5 in passing with 341.5 yards per game.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

HARDING'S RUSHING ATTACK TRAVELS TO SAU

MAGNOLIA -- Following a 32-31 defeat to Southeastern Oklahoma, Harding (1-1) dropped out of the AFCA Division II Coaches poll, but came in at No. 24 in the D2.Football.com poll as the Bisons travel to Southern Arkansas tonight. Although SAU is not ranked, the Muleriders are 2-0 under first-year coach Mike McCarty.

Harding's defense got out to a strong start to the season forcing five turnovers in a 42-27 win over East Central, but looked more vulnerable against SEOSU. One reason the defense looked more vulnerable is Harding is playing without sixth-year senior linebacker Shedrick Robinson due to injury.

On offense, Harding leads the GAC and ranks second in the nation in rushing averaging 349 yards per game. Seniors Cole Chancey, Taylor Bissell and Paden Preston plus newcomer Omar Sinclair create a four-person flexbone backfield.

Harding's high powered rushing attack will face the challenge of a staunch SAU running defense. The Mulerider defense ranks No. 1 in the GAC in fewest rushing yards allowed at 47 per game. On the flip side, SAU allows the most passing yards per game at a 425 tally.

SAU's offense is led by senior quarterback Hayden Mallory who already has seven touchdowns on the season.

Kickoff from Wilkins Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
