Memphis Soul Revue returns to Hot Springs' Bridge Street Entertainment District Friday evening for a free public concert that will be preceded by a display of electric cars, Visit Hot Springs said Tuesday in a news release.

The Soul Revue's performance and the electric car demonstration are part of the Bridge Street LIVE! series that began in June. The free concerts and entertainment events are sponsored by Visit Hot Springs.

Also on hand will be DJ Terrence, the local radio host from community radio station, KUHS, "spinning old-school house music."

The district, including the electric car display, will open at 5 p.m. DJ Terrence will perform from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and the Memphis Soul Revue will perform from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

"For nearly 30 years, Memphis Soul Revue has performed thousands of events from wedding receptions to private parties to corporate events to fairs and festivals. The show band rocks the crowd with their polished choreography, dazzling costumes and dynamic vocals. The band consists of male and female lead vocalists, drums, bass, guitar and keyboards. All members sing backup and harmony," according to a bio provided by Visit Hot Springs.

The electric car display, sponsored by the Arkansas Electric Vehicle Association, Adopt a Charger and Entergy Arkansas, is to celebrate the installation of four Level 2 240-volt electric vehicle charging stations at the nearby Hot Springs Visitor Center in Hill Wheatley Plaza available to the public. Hill Wheatley Plaza is located within a short walk of the Bridge Street car display, on the north side of Spring Street.

Adopt a Charger, a nonprofit organization that installs electric vehicle charging stations, was awarded a grant from the Entergy Environmental Initiatives fund to enable the project.

Spencer Rhoden and members of the AEVA will be on hand to answer questions about electric vehicles and give the public the opportunity to look inside the vehicles and ask questions of owners. AEVA, Adopt a Charger, and Entergy Arkansas will have a Tesla Model 3 on display.

"The demonstration is designed to reach out to people to come explore the downtown area and support local shops and restaurants," the release said.

The city of Hot Springs partnered with the nonprofit Adopt a Charger to install the four electric vehicle charging stations, or EVCS, at the visitor center.

"In 2020, Adopt a Charger was awarded a grant from the Entergy Environmental Initiatives Fund in install the EVCS at the Hot Springs Visitor Center, as well as other locations including the city of Lonoke, the Mid America Museum in Hot Springs, the Arts and Science Center of Southeast Arkansas in Pine Bluff, the Little Rock Tech Park, the Eureka Springs Visitor Center, and Nick's Bar-B-Q & Catfish, in Carlisle," Entergy said in a news release.

"This National Drive Electric Week Event is part of a nationwide effort organized by Plug In America and the Electric Auto Association. Entergy is participating at NDEW events through the region (in) efforts to raise awareness of electric vehicles, and partnering with Adopt a Charger to broaden charging infrastructure in the State. By offering EV charging stations at popular destination locations across the state of Arkansas, we are enabling EV tourism in Arkansas and giving consumers confidence to buy plug-in vehicles by offering charging at destinations they like to frequent. The City of Hot Springs is reaching out to a new demographic, inviting them to come explore the downtown area, and support local shops and restaurants. The EVCS add about 20 miles of range per hour, enough time to grab a meal or take a walk," the release said.
