Hot Springs woman struck by truck in Franklin County dies from injuries

A Hot Springs woman who was struck by a truck early Tuesday while walking along Highway 22 in Franklin County died from her injuries Wednesday, according to an Arkansas Department of Public Safety fatality report released Thursday.

Kristin Lee, 34, of Hot Springs, was reportedly walking east along the westbound fog line of Highway 22 near Robertson Road in Charleston shortly before 8 a.m. when she was struck by a westbound 2013 Ford F-250 pickup truck.

The driver of the truck reportedly noticed Lee walking and began to steer into the turn lane to avoid her, but Lee "walked out into the roadway and into the path" of the truck, the report said.

The truck's passenger-side mirror struck Lee, the report says, noting there was visible damage to the passenger mirror and door. Lee was transported to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith where she died from her injuries on Wednesday.

The driver of the truck, who was not injured, was not identified in the report. Conditions were cloudy and dry at the time of the incident which was investigated by Arkansas State Police, the report states.
