Having completed its 2021 summer concert series, the award-winning Hot Springs Concert Band is preparing for its autumn concert, which will be held on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 3 p.m. in the Fountain Lake School Auditorium.

"We are very pleased to have as our sponsor of this year's concert Community First Trust Company, a longtime supporter of the HSCB," Band President Kathleen Hendricks said in a news release.

Under the direction of its artistic director and principal conductor, Craig Hamilton, the band will perform "The Lords of Greenwich," "The Redwoods," "The Willow Tree," "Aparito Roca," "Travlin' Music," "The Olympics: A Centennial Celebration," "Marche Des Parachutistes Belges," "Grand Canyon Suite," "Timberline Overture," "Black is the Color," and "January February March."

"The band is very thankful for the tremendous attendance and generous support received during the summer concerts," the release said.

"This is especially true for the Fountain Lake School in its hospitality in allowing the band to hold both rehearsals and concerts on their campus, and as they continue to. Although the consequences of COVID continue to affect the band in several ways, we nevertheless remain committed and excited to continue making music for you," it said.

"And, not to rush things but before you know it Christmas will be on the horizon and with that comes the annual Christmas concert," the release said.

The Christmas concert will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Woodlands Auditorium in Hot Springs Village.

"This special event is always a fun and reflective time as the band plays your traditional favorites of the season, throws in a few special songs that perhaps you haven't heard for a while, and as always expects you to come prepared to sing along with us on some of the annual standards," the release said.

"We look forward to seeing you at one and hopefully at both of these concerts. There is no admission cost for the autumn concert, however, folks will have an opportunity to give a donation which helps offset some of the band's operating expenses."

If needed, updates on the concerts will be provided through newspapers, on the internet and on radio, "so please stay tuned! And, more information about the band can be found on the band website, hotspringsband.org," the release said.
