Wendell "Jim" Holland, 85, was born Oct. 25, 1936, in Damascus, Ark. "Papa Jim," as his family called him, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022.

Jim Holland was an avid hunter and fisherman, a neighbor and friend to all. He loved RV camping and traveling this great United States. Especially the state parks. Wendell "Jim" Holland served 19-plus years in the United States Air Force before being medically retired. He was a Cold War and decorated Vietnam veteran, one of the original Strategic Air Command (SAC)-trained personnel in the military. He served meritoriously and with distinction, bringing great credit upon himself and the USAF.

He is preceded in death by this father, Vernon Holland, his mother, Icelean Holland; brothers: Darrell, Arthel and Jerry Holland; sister, Eula Bea Stolz; and stepson, Stephen Goins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Johnnie Goins-Holland; children: James W. "Bill" Holland (Debbie), Tammy Guttry (Gilbert), John D. Holland (Debra), Matthew V. Holland (Camilla), Cliff Goins (Angel), John M. Goins (Amy); his siblings: Etta Lee Gray (Wendell), Carrell Holland (Vesta) and Joyce Ann Nooner (Mike); and a several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday at Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Celebration of his life will be at 11:30 a.m. in the Hot Springs Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Robert Howell and Pastor Nancy Scott officiating.

Pallbearers will be Capt. Andrew Goins, Wendell Gray, Michael Nooner, Larry Ballard, Richard Gray and Nathan Holland.

Burial will be in Donaldson, Ark., at Ouachita Cemetery, with military honors by the Little Rock AFB Honor Guard.

Arrangements are by Hot Springs Funeral Home.
