City, county offices

closing for MLK Day

All city offices, except public safety and the airport, and Garland County offices and departments will be closed Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

The city's residential sanitation routes will run one day behind schedule, but the Solid Waste Department's commercial collection will take place as normally scheduled. The Garland County Landfill and the city's compost facility will also be closed.

House-to-house collection service in the county will continue as scheduled, County Judge Darryl Mahoney said in a news release.

The Hot Springs Intracity Transit bus and paratransit services will run as normally scheduled, but the Transportation Depot will be closed.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, there will be traffic interruptions associated with the MLK Day Parade, including at the intersection of Whittington and Park avenues; Central Avenue, south to Spring Street; Spring east to Malvern Avenue; and then Malvern south to 201 Church St.

Hot Springs police will be assisting in traffic control, but motorists are asked to use caution when traveling in these areas.
