Garland remained the only county with two top-five medical marijuana dispensaries, according to May sales the state revenue agency released earlier this week.

Suite 443 and Green Springs Medical ranked fourth and fifth, reporting May sales of 262.17 and 223.66 pounds. The 1,224.68 and 1,100.49 pounds they reported through the first five months of the year also ranked fourth and fifth.

The Department of Finance and Administration said the state's 38 dispensaries reported total sales of more than 3,900 pounds last month. More than 100,000 pounds have been sold since May 2019, when the state's first legal sale of the drug was made in Garland County.

"The 3,917 pounds sold in May brought the total to 102,710 pounds," DFA, calling the 100,000-pound mark a "significant milestone," said.

The Tax Procedure Act prohibits the state from releasing revenue figures from individual dispensaries. In aggregate, they reported sales of $22.45 million last month and $112 million through May.

"Through the first five months of 2022, an average of $741,000 is spent each day across the state's 38 dispensaries to purchase medical marijuana," DFA said. "If this continues, sales for 2022 will be comparable to 2021 sales, which totaled $264 million at the end of the year."

The agency said medical marijuana sales generated $2.68 million in state sales tax receipts last month. More than $70 million has been collected since May 2019.

Natural Relief Dispensary set the pace for May sales, moving 377.26 pounds. The 1,975.01 pounds it sold through May also ranked first. The ReLeaf Center in Bentonville ranked second, reporting 314.69 pounds last month and 1,609.71 through May.

CROP Co. in Jonesboro ranked third, reporting sales of 1,260.38 pounds through May and 265.56 for the month.

The Medical Marijuana Commission has licensed 38 dispensaries, all of which are in operation after Good Day Farm's March opening in Van Buren. The constitutional amendment authorizing marijuana for medicinal use voters approved in 2016 allows the commission to award up to 40 dispensary licenses.

The Arkansas Department of Health reported 82,762 active patient cards as of Saturday, a slight increase from a month earlier.
