Upcoming meetings

The Virginia Clinton Kelley Democratic Women's Club will meet at the Central Theatre, 1008 Central, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Special guest speakers will be Heather Buckley, Ally board member of the Hot Springs LGBTQ+ Alliance, and Chris Rix, Hot Springs businessman and entrepreneur. The special program is celebrating Pride.

Greater Hot Springs Kiwanis Club meets every Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at Hibachi Sushi Buffet in Temperance Hill; guests are welcome.

Support groups

Narcotics Anonymous meets at noon Monday through Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sundays at 315 W. Grand Ave. This is a 12-step recovery program for people for whom drugs have become a major problem. The Helpline number is 501-321-8700.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets daily at 8 p.m.; at 8 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; at noon Monday-Saturday; and at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The speaker meeting is at 11 a.m. Sunday. Miscellaneous

Hot Springs AIDS Clinic, 1801 Central Ave., Suite C, is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. The clinic provides free, comprehensive medical care, lab testing, medications, case management and support groups. Call Mike Melancon, 501-623-5598, for more information.

Cans for Kids donates canned and boxed food items and helps provide meals to children in all nine Garland County schools. Call 501-321-2517 for information.

AARP has canceled all sponsored in-person events and activities through the end of 2020, which include AARP Driver Safety events, to minimize COVID-19 exposure among AARP members and its communities, according to Judith Zitko, district coordinator, Hot Springs Village Driver Safety.

The Literacy Council of Garland County offers free, confidential tutoring to adults in basic reading, math or digital literacy. English as a second language tutoring is also available. Meditation gatherings are held each week at 6 p.m. on Mondays. Meditation is based on "The Infinite Way" by Joel S. Goldsmith. "To those interested in living a spiritual life at home or at work, without neglecting daily responsibilities, through mediation and prayer, one can learn to live in the world, separate and apart from its negative aspects."
