The America's Art Form Series will present "The Rhythm Section: 'What We Do'" at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Garland County Library.

The library sponsors the America's Art Form Series concerts in collaboration with the Hot Springs Jazz Society. Reservations are not required. Admission is free.

"The rhythm section usually consists of piano, bass and percussion and sometimes guitar. Percussion in most ensembles consists of one drummer, however, in some Latin combos there are also congas, bongos, marimba and other handheld instruments to help with time and sound," a news release said.

Bassist Don Colquitt will talk about the role of each member in the rhythm section and how they work together with other musicians or as an independent group. Colquitt will present Russell Roberts on percussion and Josh Lawrence on keyboards.

"These three accomplished rhythm section players are some of the most sought-after musicians in the 'Fourstate' region," the release said.
