Public input sought

on recreation plan

Arkansas State Parks is public input as part of its 2022 Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan.

Every five years, per federal regulations, each state must complete a statewide comprehensive outdoor recreation plan to receive appropriations from the National Land and Water Conservation Fund. Part of the plan must include outdoor recreation user and provider surveying to identify participation rates, access issues, and concerns related to current and future areas and facility needs. Funds allocated to states are used to increase outdoor recreation access and participation via state-approved projects, a news release said.

To participate in the survey, visit http://www.cityhs.net/22SCORP. The deadline for responses is July 15 and participants must be 18 years or older. The survey, which takes an average of 15 minutes to complete, is hosted through QuestionPro.

The survey will ask a series of questions about outdoor recreation participation and perceptions, motivations for outdoor recreation and thoughts related to barriers to outdoor recreation participation. It will conclude with a few simple demographic questions that will be used in the analysis only.

Hot Springs has benefited from Arkansas' Outdoor Recreation Grants Program, including the recently awarded funds to construct Phase 1 of Velocity Park, which will be the new pump track on Valley Street, the release said.
