Three suspects are in custody after an Arkansas State Police trooper executed a Precision Immobilization Technique, or PIT maneuver, on a fleeing vehicle on East Grand near Westinghouse Terrace Tuesday afternoon.

According to Hot Springs police Lt. Larry Patrick, a Hot Springs police officer attempted to stop the vehicle near Candlewood Suites on Central Avenue when the driver began to flee.

"We started the initial stop for fictitious tags, and they were expired," he said, noting the vehicle got on the King Expressway traveling north. "We tried to get them to pull over. The guy fled, got up to right around 100 mph about Carpenter Dam (Road). We called it at that point because of speeds, and we've got (Lakeside) school. We don't know if he's gonna get off that exit by the school or go straight."

Arkansas State Police were called in to assist and located the vehicle traveling west on East Grand Avenue.

"Trooper (Dylan) Robbins found it down here below (the expressway)," ASP Lt. Scott Joe said. "The car turned and was going the wrong way. He was going westbound in the eastbound lanes. He did a PIT maneuver, and then pushed him off the road because he was impeding other traffic."

After the vehicle was stopped, one of the three occupants of the vehicle exited the vehicle and started to run, forcing the trooper to deploy his Taser.

LifeNet transported one of the occupants from the vehicle to National Park Medical Center for treatment unrelated to the incident.

"The other guy appears to be under the influence of something," Patrick said. "I don't know if he ate something or what. He ended up going to the hospital, and then the female has warrants, as well."
