Virdell Buttrum, 91, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away Sept. 17, 2022. He was born April 27, 1931 in Cedar Glades, Ark.
He worked at Weyerhaeuser as a saw filer, and retired after 43 years of service. He was a faithful member of Harvey's Chapel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He loved spending his time serving others at the Harvey's Chapel food pantry.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Belva Jean Buttrum; his parents, Clarence and Fannie Buttrum (Ratliff); his older brother, Lee Buttrum; and his great-grandson, Cayden Buttrum.
He is survived by his sons, Gary Buttrum and Bruce Buttrum (Carla); his sisters-in-law, Martha Nell Morgan and Audrey Outler Nelson (Pat); his grandchildren, Kimberly Huff (Michael), Brandi Watson (Charlie), Michael Buttrum (Tabitha), and Brad Buttrum (Lauren); his great-grandchildren, Margie Buttrum, Brody, Braden and Erynn Huff, Tucker and Kennedy Watson, and Paxton and Cooper Buttrum.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today, Sept. 21, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.
A celebration of Virdell's life will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with Bro. Buddy Leamons and Bro. Joe Thompson officiating.
Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Randy Jeffers, Kevin Outler, Kyle Outler, Kelly Morgan, and Frankie Ellis.
Honorary Pallbearers include the Adult Men 2 class at Harvey's Chapel Baptist Church, the nurses and staff at CHI St. Vincent Hospital, and the nurses and staff at Lake Hamilton Health and Rehabilitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Harvey's Chapel Baptist Church Food Pantry.
