A felon on probation was arrested on multiple felony charges late Thursday after allegedly fleeing on foot from a traffic stop where a gun and a large quantity of marijuana were found in his possession.

Taedrian Patrick Gibson, 23, who lists a Grandpoint Drive address, was taken into custody shortly after 8:30 p.m. and charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, punishable by up to life in prison, possession of a firearm by certain persons, punishable by up to 20 years, possession of marijuana with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to 10 years, and a misdemeanor count of fleeing on foot.

The driver of the car, identified as Trevian Alonzo Gibson, 26, who lists the same address, was taken into custody at the same time on a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, punishable by up to one year in jail, but also had a warrant out of Conway for failure to comply with a court order.

Taedrian Gibson was being held on a zero bond and was set to appear Friday in Garland County District Court. He was previously convicted on Nov. 25, 2021, in Garland County Circuit Court of felony fleeing in a vehicle and felony failure to appear and sentenced to six years' probation.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hot Springs police Cpl. Richard Nunez and Arkansas State Police Trooper Kendrick Davis were working together around 8:30 p.m. when Davis saw a silver Chevrolet Malibu make an improper left turn from Grand Avenue onto Central Avenue and stopped the vehicle in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Central.

After discovering the warrant for his arrest, Davis asked the driver, Trevian Gibson, to exit the vehicle and he complied. Nunez then asked the passenger, Taedrian Gibson, to also step out and he did, but then allegedly began to flee away from the area.

Davis pursued him and after running about a quarter of a mile, deployed his Taser which caused Gibson to fall to the ground. As Davis attempted to handcuff Gibson, he noted he refused to reveal his hands which were underneath him as he lay facedown on the ground.

As he fell, a Glock handgun allegedly fell from Gibson's person and was located near his head. Eventually, Nunez and Davis were able to safely take Gibson into custody. Other officers arrived and detained Trevian Gibson who had stayed at the vehicle the entire time.

HSPD detectives arrived at the scene to assist and reportedly noted a strong odor of marijuana coming from the Malibu. In searching the vehicle, they reportedly found a backpack in the rear seat which contained a plastic bag with 174.2 grams of marijuana and a digital scale.

In the trunk of the car, they found a lock box that held three plastic containers with marijuana, a total of 61.3 grams, and another digital scale. The total amount of marijuana recovered was 235.5 grams or over half a pound.

Once at the jail, Taedrian Gibson reportedly admitted the marijuana found in the backpack belonged to him. Trevian Gibson was charged for the marijuana found in the trunk since the car was registered to him and was cited for making an improper turn.
