A local man was arrested early Thursday after allegedly firing multiple gunshots at an occupied vehicle that had stopped near his residence Wednesday night.

Dale Johnathon Hassey, 29, of 431 Bull Bayou Road, was taken into custody at his residence shortly before 4:30 a.m. Thursday and charged with a felony count of terroristic act, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Hassey, who lists no prior felony history, was later released on a $25,000 bond and is set to appear May 1 in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Wednesday night, the Garland County 911 Communication Center received a 911 call about shots fired.

The caller stated he and his son were driving south on Bull Bayou Road around 7:30 p.m. when he heard "a thump" under his 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and pulled into the driveway between 431 and 435 Bull Bayou so he could turn around and check his vehicle.

After pulling in, a tan Cadillac Escalade pulled into the driveway blocking the caller's Jeep. The male driver of the Cadillac then got out, walked around to the rear of the Cadillac and allegedly pointed a pistol at the caller and "began to shoot into his vehicle."

The caller stated he backed out of the driveway and fled from the area and as they were leaving, the Cadillac driver continued to shoot at the caller and his vehicle.

The caller drove to the 100 block of Fairwood Drive where he called 911 and waited for Garland County sheriff's deputies to arrive. When deputies arrived, the caller told them he had recognized the driver of the Cadillac as Hassey. The affidavit did not indicate how the two men knew each other.

Deputies arrived at 431 Bull Bayou and "secured the scene" and waited for investigators to obtain a search warrant.

Investigators were able to obtain search warrants for 431 and 435 Bull Bayou and executed them shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday. During the search, investigators reportedly located 10 spent 9-mm shell casings in the driveway at 431 Bull Bayou and one expended round in the street in front of the driveway.

Investigators were able to verify that Hassey lived at 431 Bull Bayou and that he has a tan Cadillac Escalade registered to him that reportedly matched the description of the one involved in the shooting so an arrest warrant was issued.
