Opera Sauce wins international competition

LITTLE ROCK -- Little Rock-based supertasterz, LLC was recently honored with a platinum medal for Opera Sauce Mediterranean Hot Sauce in the hot sauce category at the sixth annual Drunken Tomato Awards, the company said in a news release.

"Their award-winning product was applauded by an expert panel of professional bloody mary judges due to its 'savory, rich, umami flavor,' 'good heat build' and 'hearty texture.' Other comments from the judging panel described Opera Sauce as 'an interesting sauce with a slightly sweet and slightly tangy flavor' and noted that Opera Sauce 'adds great complexity and umami to the bloody mary,'" the release said.

"Opera Sauce was initially created for Mediterranean food, but we've been told by many customers that they love it on eggs," said owner and creator Jason Cummings, a former Hot Springs resident. "Now that it's also been endorsed as the best hot sauce for bloody marys, Opera Sauce is brunch's favorite hot sauce!"

"The Drunken Tomato Awards is an international bloody mary competition that rewards the hard work and passion of industry manufacturers who produce superior products. By utilizing a blind taste testing environment, industry influencers from across the nation are able to provide unbiased feedback that assists consumers in discovering reliable, quality mixes and accouterments," the release said.

"The Drunken Tomato Awards represent a standard of achievement within the bloody mary community," company founder Shelley Buchanan said in the release. "As indicators of exceptional quality, our medals quite simply let you know who makes the best bloody mary mixes and bloody mary ingredients in the world."
