‘Broadway Cabaret’ sets Father’s Day weekend performances

The Muses Project will present 3 p.m. matinee performances of "The Sound of Muses -- Broadway Cabaret" during Father's Day weekend, June 17-18, at the Muses Cultural Arts Center, 428 Orange St.

"This 'can't miss,' first-rate, high-energy concert" features beloved tunes from 20th century Musical Theater classics including "Sound of Music," "Fiddler on the Roof," "Hello Dolly," "South Pacific," and "Hunchback of Notre Dame," a news release said.

"This highly entertaining show is an impressive display of Musical Theater artistry by the Muses professional troupe of highly skilled nationally touring performers, instrumentalists and talented resident Young Artist singers and dancers," it said.

"Sound of Muses" performances will include a student show at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, at the Muses center. All artists, students and teachers can attend for free, but must call 501-609-9811 to register.

Other performances include 7 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at TRAHC, Cabe Hall, Texarkana, Texas, call 903-792-8681 for information; 7 p.m. Friday, June 16, at Woodlands Auditorium in Hot Springs Village; and 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, and Sunday, June 18, at the Muses center.

The Sound of Muses Broadway Cabaret; a lively concert experience of great music, stunning voices, a superb band, and gorgeous dancers, is a prime example of this distinction. "The Muses Project is a statewide performing arts organization, whose mission is to preserve the classical arts through performance and education through its accessible, highly entertaining, excellent and inspirational programming. Muses' Hot Springs audiences have long expressed a preference for matinee performances; therefore, the Muses Project is delighted to announce that this year, the Saturday and Sunday performance times will be 3 p.m. matinees," the release said.
