DE QUEEN -- A Hot Springs man was killed and three people were injured Monday afternoon in a four-vehicle wreck on Highway 71 east in Sevier County near De Queen, according to an Arkansas Department of Public Safety preliminary fatality report.
Ricky Hill, 60, of Hot Springs, driving a 2009 Pontiac G5, was northbound on Highway 71 at the Cossatot River Bridge around 4:15 p.m. Monday when he lost control, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a southbound 2003 GMC Sierra driven by Edgar Overturf, 19, of De Queen.
The impact caused Hill's car to rotate and eject Hill and then veer off the roadway on the east shoulder. The impact also caused the Sierra to sideswipe a southbound 2009 Chevrolet vehicle and then veer into the northbound lane where it collided with a 2020 Freightliner truck.
Hill was killed and Overturf and two passengers in his vehicle, including Logan Garland, 19, of De Queen, and an unidentified minor, were injured and taken to Sevier County Medical Center in De Queen and Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.
Conditions were reportedly clear and dry at the time of the wreck which was investigated by Arkansas State Police.
