'Pop Up' community

Sunday School planned

First Presbyterian Church, 213 Whittington Ave., will hold a "Pop Up" Community Sunday School from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 8.

"In 1997, inspired by the vision of Dr. John Wayne Smith, congregations, community leaders, and health care professionals came together to care for those without the resources to receive health care," a news release said.

"Over the next 17 years, hundreds of volunteers have provided compassionate care to thousands who were sick through CCMC. Included in that care is tending to the spiritual wounds that poverty inflicts upon those trapped in its cruel grip.

"Join us for this casual interactive and informational seminar to learn more about how God is working in your community. All are welcome here!"
