Proposed ballot initiatives to be discussed at forum in HSV

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- The Democratic Club of Hot Springs Village is hosting a free nonpartisan event as a public service to help inform the public on the "pros and cons" of petitions now being circulated for several proposed ballot initiatives, a news release said.

The proposed initiatives being discussed are a Freedom of Information amendment; an amendment regarding abortion; and a measure to remove the so-called "Pink tax."

The event will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Coronado Center, 150 Ponderosa Way.

"The speakers will offer a more in-depth look at these petitions and answer questions about what they mean and why they are important to voters in Arkansas. It is open to the public and no RSVP or registration is needed. The POA cash bar will be open," the release said.

"Petitions are circulating for several proposed ballot initiatives and if you want to learn more about them, you can come and hear from attorneys and others involved in developing them and learn why your petition signature is critical to ensuring we, the people, are given the opportunity to vote yes or no in November 2024," the release said.

Volunteers will be on hand for anyone who chooses to sign any of the petitions. Signees must show their voter registration card or be able to access their information online, which the volunteers can also provide assistance with. The site is located at:
