The Hot Springs Fire Department is looking into the cause of a fire that erupted at the rear of a single-story residence at 120 Boaz St. early Monday evening.

Hot Springs Fire Chief Ed Davis said his department got the call at 5:43 p.m. Monday. Firefighters were initially told the fire was on Pleasant Valley Street, but then were redirected to Boaz Street.

They had the fire under control and knocked down within a few minutes of arriving.

"Upon arrival, there was a large amount of involvement in the back," he said, and two other structures were exposed. No one was believed to be inside and the pets that were initially inside were removed by the homeowner and neighbors.

The cause of the fire had not been determined as of presstime.
